授業概要 Academic English is a four-course sequence that prepares English majors for the third-year Graduation Thesis Research Seminar and the fourth year Graduation Thesis.
授業のねらい・到達目標 Because the main aim of Academic English is to prepare English majors for the third-year Graduation Thesis Research Seminar and the fourth year Graduation Thesis, Academic English 1 is divided into Writing and Linguistics Units so that students can learn the necessary skills and knowledge. Academic English 1 introduces academic writing skills in the first half of the semester, then it introduces students to the rudiments of linguistics.

この科目は文理学部（学士（文学））のディプロマポリシーDP3、DP6、DP7、DP8、及び、カリキュラムポリシーCP3、CP6、CP7、CP8、に対応している。
言語現象や歴史的事象を論理的に理解することができる（A-3-1）。
周りの人々と相互に意思を伝達することができる（A-6-1）。
学修活動において, 積極的にリーダーシップを発揮することができる（A-7-1）。
自分の学修経験の振り返りを継続的に行うことができる（A-8-1）。
授業の形式 演習
授業の方法 In the Writing Unit, students learn the basics of paragraph writing and format, with an emphasis on unity and coherence by completing exercises in the textbook. In the Linguistics Unit, they are introduced to basic linguistics concepts, complete related task-based activities, write a 150-word paragraph, and give a short oral presentation. Students are supposed to spend 1 to 3 hours to complete preparation and homework on each class. Feedback will be provided in class or when assignments are returned.

事前に授業担当教員に許可された者については、代替措置として、Canvas LMS に配信する課題を提出する。そのほか詳しいことは状況に応じて別途指示する。
履修条件 英文学科２年生はクラス指定科目。

英文学科の２年生以外の学生（再履修および、転科、転籍、転部、編入を含む）は抽選によって振り分けられた者のみ履修可。
抽選の詳細は年度初めガイダンス（３月末／４月頭）にて案内する。

英文学科以外の学生は、開講されているクラスから選び、各学期の初回授業で担当教員の許可を得て履修すること。
原則、前学期と後学期で異なる教員を受講すること。
