授業の形態 Due to the prevailing Corona virus pandemic, classes will be conducted online. Classes will be held during real time meeting on zoom and instructions about assignments will be posted on blackboard cloud. Your ID for Blackboard is 20200424.

授業概要 This class is coordinated with English 1 and students will continue to develop their communication skills acquired in the spring semester. The focus of the course will be to provide the students with the vocabulary and practice necessary to express their opinion expanding on the knowledge they acquired in English 1. Students will have opportunities to read about a number of educational and social issues which affect Japan and our global community, conduct independent research, and express their ideas in groups in front of the class.
授業のねらい・到達目標 The key objective of this class is to improve students' communicative abilities in English. By the end of this course students should be able to:

1. their opinion in English on the educational and social issues studied during the semester.
2. ask and answer questions based on the readings assigned in class, using appropriate vocabulary.
3. create original sentences using vocabulary introduced in class.
4. understand short and medium-length texts dealing with a specific range of topics covered in class


この科目は文理学部のDP及びCPの2, 3, 6 に対応している。
授業の方法 The following activities will be done in class:

1. role-plays in pairs to improve speaking skills
2. discussions in groups on pre-assigned topics
3. listening to authentic model conversation to improve pronunciation
4. guide students to do independent research
The class will be conducted in English and students will be expected to engage actively in all activities.Students are expected to spend an hour to review and prepare for every class.


Homework will be assigned for every class and students have to come to class with completed homework.
履修条件 ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。
②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。
③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。
④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

3 Chapter 6 continued - keeping a class journal. Discussion topics.

4 Chapter 7 - Using the Tablet Computer in Class - vocabulary preview, reading passage and follow-up exercises.
